Tom Stephenson and Angie Co Present: Intro to Birdwatching and the Birds of Prospect Park

April 25, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Prospect Park is one of the best bird-watching spots in the U.S.  During spring migration it’s possible to see as many as 100 species in one day. Come learn about and see photos of the many colorful warblers, orioles, grosbeaks, raptors, ducks, and other species that visit and even depend on the park for their survival. Also, learn about why bird watching is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the country and how much fun this lifelong learning pursuit can be.

Tom Stephenson has been birding since he was a kid and is a leader for Brooklyn Bird Club walks. His articles and photographs are in many publications includingBirding, Birdwatcher’s Digest, Handbook of the Birds of the World, Birds of Madagascar and Guide to the Birds of SE Brazil. He is the author of The Warbler Guidebook and app and of the upcoming BirdGenie app that’s a “shazam” for bird songs.

Angie Co is an enthusiastic and active member of the Brooklyn Bird Club, contributing to the club’s newsletter as well as its education outreach. She began bird watching last spring, and now spends a lot of time in Prospect Park and along the shores of Brooklyn, clad in hiking boots and binoculars. Angie is an architect and teaches at Syracuse University.
