DESCRIPTION:Due to tropical storm remnants of Ian this trip is CANCELLED. \nMeet 7 am at the Target Store\, 1598 Flatbush Ave (at the Q35 Bus stop on Avenue H) We will try to take the 7:20 am bus. Or\, if you don’t see us there you can proceed directly to Battery Harris East via the trail. https://goo.gl/maps/e9VzGKKzpeoAx9GY9 \nLeader: Peter Dorosh 347-622-3559 (text only for the early morning of the trip; Inquiries or questions prior trip date please email Prosbird@gmail.com) \nFocus:  This trip’s itinerary will be a morning stationary sit atop the former WWI large bunker named Battery Harris East\, where the group will observe migrating hawks and other raptors in a casual count\, good wind or not. This trip is flat walking \,about 3/4 mile west from the Q35 bus stop opposite the Tilden 169th St firehouse. The Bunker has wooden stairs to the platform. \nNotes: Bring plenty of water\, a sun hat\, sunscreen and insect repellent as well as lunch or snacks. Bring a portable campchair as well as plenty of patience during the all morning “big sit.”  If you want to bring a scope\, a light one is best. We expect  to end by 2:30 pm after some birding at the community garden woods. There are restrooms available at Fort Tilden. \n
