SUMMARY:2022 Spring Birdathon
DESCRIPTION:\nWe’re happy to announce the 2022 Brooklyn Bird Club Birdathon\, to be held in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) on Saturday\, May 14. \nThe annual Birdathon asks birders to form teams of up to 6 members and count bird species in Brooklyn in support of a cause that helps the birds we love. Everyone is welcome ─ hardcore birders\, backyard feeder watchers\, and beginners! Like a walkathon\, participants collect pledges and donations from friends and family for finding and counting bird species on the day of the Birdathon. Instead of getting a pledge per mile walked\, Birdathon participants ask for a pledge for each bird species seen by the team. \nThis year’s designated beneficiary of our annual Birdathon is the Green-wood Cemetery.  We will be raising funds for the planting of a bird-friendly native meadow along Magnolia Ave adjacent to Valley Water. This stretch of native grasses will reflect the character of those on the hillside behind the chapel\, which has become a productive habitat for migrants. \nPlease register your team by sending team members\, your day’s goal\, and a team name to Bobbi Manian birdathon@brooklynbirdclub.org by Tuesday\, May 10. \n\nIf you’d like to be connected to a team\, contact Bobbi Manian (see above) who will try to connect people with similar levels of commitment\n

DESCRIPTION:Leader: Ed Crowne \nMeet at the main entrance located at 5th Ave and 25th street at  9 a.m. No registration necessary. \nJoin Brooklyn Bird Club’s Ed Crowne for a bird walk\, Saturday May 14th\, in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day. \nOn this date it is possible to see 100 species of birds in Green-wood Cemetery. All skill and interest levels are welcome to attend this event. \nOn World Migratory Bird Day the BBC traditionally raises funds for worthy conservation causes and this year’s recipient is Green-wood Cemetery. We are raising funds for the planting of bird friendly native plants at Magnolia Ave.  We encourage participants to visit our donation portal if they wish to contribute to this worthy cause.
