SUMMARY:First Sunday Bird Outings
DESCRIPTION:These outings will start at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse. \nLeader: A member of the Brooklyn Bird Club \nJoin a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club in search of dozens of species that visit the park through all seasons. Learn about the different habitats in Prospect Park and why they are important for all types of birds. \nAll are welcome. No registration necessary. \nPlease bring binoculars. \nRoute Description: This outing is at an easy pace with stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles. \n

SUMMARY:Birding at the Naval Cemetery Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Leaders: Dennis Hrehowsik\, birder (BBC) and A Rossi\, Director of Horticulture (BGI) \nFocus: Explore this native pollinator meadow and memorial landscape. The walk will focus primarily on late migrating birds with an introduction to the site and how plant selection and management support the bird population here. This event will be at the Naval Cemetery Landscape (NCL).  Stop by and enjoy the NCL’s native pollinator habitat and contemplative memorial urban meadow and learn about the NCL and the Greenway and what goes into maintaining their beauty and accessibility for every visitor\, especially the many species of birds for which they intentionally cultivate habitat and resources. \nThis Naval Cemetery Landscape is managed by the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative\, and was a recipient of funding from the Brooklyn Bird Club’s 2025 Birdathon event. \nBYOB- bring your own binoculars! \nThis event is free but please make sure to register/get a ticket for each attending member. Enter at 63 Williamsburg St West between Kent and Flushing Avenues. \nTransit: We are located on the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway and offer bike parking on site. \nThere is no parking lot for cars on site but street parking is nearbly on Kent Avenue or Williamsburg Street West near Steuben Park. \nIf putting in directions in a GPS app / taking Uber or Lyft – we recommend inputting the GPS Pin of Kent Ave + Hooper Street and being dropped off there. While on Kent\, make a right on Williamsburg West Street via foot. Google Maps does not take you to the entrance to the NCL if you add the NCL’s address as your location.
