SUMMARY:Autumn's Birding Allure at Floyd Bennett Field
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Heydi Lopes \nParticipant limit: 16; drivers and members get priority. \nFocus: This trip focuses on late fall migrants\, particularly sparrows  (Emberizidae genus)\, plus raptors in peak\, as well as early winter species\, namely arriving water fowl and perhaps late shorebirds. There will be concentration on grassland species and possibly a vagrant species. \nRegistrar:  Danielle Khalife daniellek97@gmail.com\n \nRegistration Period: October 26th-October 30th \nCar Pool Fee: $10 \nNotes: Bring lunch\, water\, sunhat\, and good walking shoes. The walking is flat and casually paced with likely 5 miles total distance. If you want to bring a scope\, a light one is best. We expect a walk ending in mid-afternoon.. There are restrooms available. \n

SUMMARY:Introduction to Birdwatching
DESCRIPTION:\nThese outings will start at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse. \nLeader: A member of the Brooklyn Bird Club \nWhether you’re just starting out or have already joined the birding ranks\, this introductory bird outing is for you. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles. \n\n
