SUMMARY:Winter Draws Down in Hempstead Lake State Park
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Peter Dorosh \nParticipant limit: 16 \nNote: It’s been a long time since our last club visit to Hempstead Lake SP\, and the first in late winter. There will be plenty of walking as we explore this site on official trails around the lake. \nFocus: Primarily an exploratory walk in a new site for winter passerines residing or migrating through\, and the usual waterbirds\, sparrows\, and raptors. \nRegistrar: Peter Dorosh\, email Prosbird@gmail.com \nRegistration Period: March 1st-March 5th \nCarpool fee: $15.00 \nItinerary: An early start to this all day visit will bring us to official trails around the southern ponds and lake as well through woods. SUMMARY:Introduction to Birdwatching
DESCRIPTION:\nThese outings will start at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse. \nLeader: A member of the Brooklyn Bird Club \nWhether you’re just starting out or have already joined the birding ranks\, this introductory bird outing is for you. Join a member of the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn the basics of birding and search for the dozens of species that visit Prospect Park through all seasons. \nAll levels and ages are welcome. No registration necessary. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available to loan. \nRoute Description: This outing is at a leisurely pace with lots of stops to observe birds. A different route through the park may be taken each week. There may be steps\, slight inclines\, and grass and dirt paths with exposed roots. We will cover approximately 1.5-2 miles. \n\n
