SUMMARY:Summer Oasis at Canarsie Park
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Rusty Harold \nSynopsis: Canarsie Park is an under birded green oasis on Jamaica Bay where numerous shorebirds stopover on migration. If the weather cooperates\, we’ll continue into Shirley Chisholm Park in the afternoon. \nRegistration Period: July 12th- July16th \nRegistrar: Rusty Harold\,  email elharo@macfaq.com \nParticipant limit: 16. Drivers and members get priority. \nCarpool fee: $10 \nReferences: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L609644/bird-list?m=7 \nhttps://www.nycgovparks.org/park-features/hiking/canarsie-park \n  \n

SUMMARY:"Hot" Birding in the Coney Island Region
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Peter Dorosh \nParticipant Limit: 16 \nRegistrar: Peter Dorosh email Prosbird@gmail.com  \nRegistration Period: July 19th-July 23rd \nFocus: We will be looking for fledglings\, immature birds\, early migrants\, coastal waterbirds\, and shorebirds. If we are lucky\, we may even spot a pelican. The objective is to enjoy a casual slow summer day outdoors\, weather permitting. \nItinerary: This is a public transportation-based trip involving an approximately 5-mile loop walk.  A rare summer walk in Coney Island usually reserved for winter walks. From the Stillwell Ave terminal\, we will take a bus to Drier Offerman Park. We will then walk through the Five Diamonds field edges toward Coney Island Creek Park\, eventually reaching Coney Island Beach and the pier. We’ll conclude the day with refreshments on the boardwalk\, perhaps at the Sizzle and Steak beer garden. Instructions provided upon registration deadline. \nMandatory: plenty of water \, sunhat\, sunscreen\, good walking shoes\, snacks. Light scope is an option if you are willing to carry it a long distance. \n
