Birding Prospect Park on the Battle of Brooklyn’s Semisesquicentennial
August 27 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet 7 am at the Bartel Pritchard Square park entrance.
No registration necessary.
Leader: Peter Dorosh
Focus: On the 250th anniversary of the historic and bloodiest battle of the American Revolution—fought just eight weeks after the signing of the Declaration of Independence—we invite you to commemorate this landmark event with an early fall migration birding outing.
Our focus will be on warblers, flycatchers, orioles, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, late-season breeders, and other migrant passerines moving through the area. Join your leader, a history enthusiast, in searching for birds on the very ground where this pivotal battle was fought. Before the walk begins, a brief overview of the battle and its significance will be shared.
