Focus: The focus is primarily coastal waterfowl, sea ducks, gulls, lingering shorebirds, sparrows, dune species, raptors, finches and possible vagrant birds.

Itinerary: During this peak time for winter birds, the plan focuses on birding the waters surrounding the Jones Beach barrier island: at West End, the Coast Guard Station, the Roosevelt Nature Center area, and Point Lookout. Bring lunch, water, hot beverage and a scope if you own one; dress accordingly for cold weather and wear good walking shoes.
