Butterfly World at Ward Pound Ridge

June 28

Leader: Karlo Mirth

Participant Limit: 12

Focus: The peak period for butterflies at one of the best locations in the northeast. Butterfly entomologist and author Jeffrey Glassberg profiles this location in his book “Butterflies through Binoculars”.

Notes: This mid-morning trip is contingent on sunny or warm weather for productive butterfly activity. No postponements for bad weather.  It’s best using binoculars with 3-4″ close focus: Pentax Papilio is one example https://www.amazon.com/Pentax-Papilio-II-6-5×21-Binoculars/dp/B00SKO4A8Q?th=1. The preserve is northeast of Bedford, NY, about an hour and twenty minutes drive from Prospect Park pickup .

Registrar: Peter Dorosh, email Prosbird@gmail.com or Prosbird@aol.com

Registration Period: June 22nd- June 26th

Carpool fee: $20.00  Club members and drivers get priority.

Necessities: Sunhat, plenty of water, sunblock, insect repellent, (ticks may be prevalent.) Bring lunch plus snacks for the long day.
