Bring your own Picnic, Blankets, Chairs, etc.
When it starts to turn dark, we will set up a Bug Sheet. What’s a bug sheet, you may ask? It’s simply a big, white cloth hung outside at night with a bright light shining on it. Moths, beetles and other night-flying insects are drawn to the light and will land on the sheet so we can easily see them.
This method is used by scientists and nature-lovers alike, to watch and study insects up close. It’s a fun way for us to discover the amazing colors and behaviors of insects under the stars — it’s like a bug party on the sheet!
Insect aficionado Matthew Wills is going to join us to help with bug IDs!
