Note: Rediscover spring on a long-overdue visit to the rustic Shu Swamp Preserve—the first time the BBC has returned in more than 25 years. Shu Swamp features wet woodlands, winding boardwalks, open meadows, dense thickets, and a pond rich with natural discoveries. The walk also introduces two new BBC destinations: Hume and Upper Francis Pond Preserves. If you enjoy a relaxed, unhurried exploration of springtime beauty—lingering, observing, and savoring the season—this trip is for you.
Focus: early spring passerines, wet woodland species, sparrows, raptors in a renowned habitat. Budding wildflowers and spring ephemerals are also in the mix.

Itinerary: Following Shu Swamp, Hume and Upper Francis preserves, we may visit–time permitting –Pryibil Beach and Welwyn Preserve on the north shore. Bring lunch and good waterproof walking shoes. Tick repellent is necessary.
